Phonics Skills

Today we tried our first Phonics Skills session. There were five activities to work through which looked at different skills to help us with our phonics. These involved the Buried Treasure game on the MacBook, sorting sounds into hoops, writing CVC words on to phoneme frames, hunting for lots of red words and writing out word cards. We were so sensible and did and amazing job. Miss Broxholme was so proud of us that she gave us 2 Dojo points each! 

Snow

We received a very small amount of snow today but the children were so excited and wanted to play in it. We went out for a short while and the children were fascinated at seen snow flakes landing on their coats and looking at the patterns. 

Measuring

We have been working really hard to solve Red Riding Hood's challenges. Today we have made lots of houses for Granny and measured them using cubes. We also moved on to measuring much bigger things such as the big house in the classroom and the post box. We even measured Miss Mumby! We have worked really hard to estimate how many cubes we would need first then we checked afterwards to see if we were right. 

Safer Internet Day

Today was Safer Internet Day which is extremely important for us to learn about. We worked brilliantly together to discuss all our ideas of how we thought we could stay safe online. We enjoyed the story of Smartie the Penguin and learning the song to go with it!

Red Riding Hood

We came into school this morning to find someone had left us lots of flowers. We found out Red Riding Hood had been and left us some challenges. We needed to make some cards to cheer Grandma up and maker her some beautiful flowers to go with them.

The Dragon Parade

Today was just so amazing! After having a whole week of learning about Chinese New Year we decided to have a dragon parade. We used the giant dragons head we made and got into a big long line with lots of colourful fabric. We each had instruments and made some amazing music to parade around with. We also carried the amazing dragons and paper chains we have made throughout the week. 

After this, we enjoyed trying some Chinese prawn crackers and spring rolls. Delicious!
