Forest School

Today we went on our usual tour of forest school. We went to see Flopsy, then we walked over to our friendship tree. After that we went to the chickens and fed them some grass. On our way into the secret forest we saw a very interesting looking spider.

When we went into the secret forest (where the fairies and elves live), Miss Wainwright said lots of Boggat's lived in there. We couldn't find any so we decided to make our own. It was so much fun and they all looked so different. We hunted around for different sized sticks and leaves and gave our Boggat's eyes, a nose, a mouth and hair. Some of us even gave them 3 eyes!

We were told to give our Boggat a name and introduce them to the others in the group. They liked meeting other Boggat's and they had a little chat with the children. Before we left we had to leave them in a safe place and whisper "goodbye."

Shared Reading Afternoon

We have had a lovely afternoon sharing books and promoting reading. It was lovely to see so many parents come along to join us.

Village Shop

We decided we wanted to make our village shop a bit more personalised. The first thing we decided to do was make our own price labels for all the items.

Then we ran out of goods to sell and so we went on a hunt around the classrooms to find more things to sell.

After we had priced everything up the children said they wanted to make the shop look pretty by making some signs.

Scarlett even made a sign saying 'no pushchairs allowed.'

Phonics Fun

We have been working incredibly hard in phonics. Our brains are like little sponges and seem to be soaking everything in! Last week we learnt lots of new sounds and practised hearing the initial sounds in words.

We have also been working super hard to practise writing our names with a magic whoosh! Even though this is tricky we are showing amazing perseverance and getting there.

This week we have begun trying to blend CVC words involving the sounds (m, a, s, d, t). All Miss Broxholme and Miss Mumby can say is "WOW!" We are fantastic at segmenting and blending words.  We have really tried to have a go and make marks to show what words we have made.

Creative Thinking

We have had an amazing week making some creative things. We have been junk modelling and creating our very own robots. We used our creative thinking and imaginations to make some amazing models. We selected and collected our own appropriate resources, including boxes, scissors, sticks, glue, cellotape and scissors. Some of us shared ideas and gave some positive feedback to our friends. We said things like "I love your robots arms" or "I really like your robots legs". We used one handed tools and equipment to aid us in making our robots, we are very good at cutting! Check out our amazing robots.

Not only have we been making some amazing robots but we have also been representing some real life experiences in our play. We created an amazing bonfire which sets off fire works and we said we needed to collect sticks, soil and leaves to help the fire start. Then we used a match to make the fireworks go bang! We also said that if we rubbed to sticks together we could make our own fire instead of using a match. We collected and selected our resources independently and we used amazing collaboration skills when working as a team.

Wow what a productive week we have had so far. We are so creative in FS.
